2008 Cadet Kart Rules

 

4 HP engines
Minimum weight #250
Trophies and championship points will be awarded.

Parents keep in mind that this is a beginner class, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place points winner for the season must move to an upper class.

Drivers

  1. Maximum 8 yrs old. Drivers over 8 may compete with track official approval.

2.   Must have serviceable fire extinguisher in pit.
Frames

  1. Fun-kart, custom built or production frames allowed. (Quarter Midget cars OK)
  2. No aluminum or titanium material.
  3. Engine can be mounted behind or beside the seat (sidewinders OK)

Suspension

  1. Front and rear suspension is allowed.
  2. Only (1) one shock/spring per wheel.

Body

  1. Bodies are optional.
  2. May resemble any production or race type vehicle.
  3. Fiberglass, aluminum, or steel bodies.
  1. Wings roof or front allowed. Top wing sides must stay within 3” from outer most edge of kart No sharp edges.  Top wing size 3’x3’x 16” sideboard.

Bumpers and nerf bars

  1. Front and rear bumpers required of Max. 1" O.D. tubing. Not to exceed outside tread width of tires.
  2. Bumpers and nerf bars must have rounded or capped ends. No sharp edges.

Roll cage and seat belts

  1. Minimum 4-point cage with 3" head clearance. NO conduit cages allowed.
  2. Cage must be constructed of steel no smaller than 3/4" O.D.
  3. Roll cage must be securely welded or bolted to frame.
  4. Minimum 4-point seat belt. Aluminum racing seat is recommended.
  5. Right side cage net, right side helmet support or a helmet restraint is mandatory.

Wheels and tires

  1. Any wheel or tire allowed.
  2. Grooving allowed. 

Brakes

  1. Brakes must be capable of stopping kart within a safe distance

Drive train

  1. Live axle only
  2. Chain guard required
  3. Centrifugal shoe clutch or belt-drive
  4. No wet or disc-type clutches allowed

Engine

  1. Stock 4-cycle outdoor power equipment style engine maximum 126 cc plus wear/repair
  2. No modifications of any kind must be OEM stock.
  3. Header type exhaust pipe with flanged end may be used.
  4. Air filter, governors and timing are non-tech.

Fuel

  1. Fuel is restricted to gasoline only. Racing gasoline is acceptable.
  2. No alcohol, No NOX nitrous oxide No fuel used for aircraft.
No performance enhancements or additives allowed.
