Texoma Motor Speedway

2008 Texas Tornado Class Rules

1.  Any domestic or foreign front wheel drive car is OK.  NO all wheel drive vehicles will be allowed.  No minimum weight or wheelbase. Cars must remain COMPLETELY stock.  NO modifications allowed to engines, suspension, fuel systems or brakes. If rear wheel drive 4 cylinder engine only. NO REAR ENGINE VEHICLES.

2.  NO alterations will be allowed to the on-board computer control system.  This includes replacing the control chip.  (This WILL BE CHECKED on a random basis.)

3.  MUST have a 4 point cage, built with a minimum of 1 ½" OD (outside diameter) tubing, with at least 3 driver side bars and 3passenger side bar.  Cage should be mounted on a flat plate, if welding to the floor.  We recommend welding the cage to the rocker panels for strength.  Side bars MUST come out against the doors.  Rear 'kicker' bars may tie into the rear strut towers.  You may run a brace bar from side to side to support the towers.  No part of the cage is to go past the rear axle center line or the front fire wall.  Bars to support/mount the radiator may be used, but must remain behind the grill and cannot connect to the fire wall or cage.

4.  Stock type tires and wheels ONLY.  No racing tires allowed.  Tires must remain the same size, side to side. (i.e.: No stagger)  Minimum 20 lbs. of air pressure, before and after the race.  No homemade wheels or off-set wheels that allow the tire to stick out past the fender or body line.    If a car takes the checkered flag with all four wheels inflated, they will not be disqualified, if the tire deflates on their cool down lap.  All decisions made by track officials are final and NOT negotiable.

5.  All glass, head lights, tail lights, etc. must be removed.  All outside trim, moldings and mirrors must be removed.  ALL flammable interior and plastics MUST be removed.

6.  Fuel cells are allowed.  Placement of fuel cell is restricted to the trunk area or behind the driver.  Location MUST be behind a firewall (no holes).  The fuel cell firewall can ONLY be constructed of steel (NO aluminum).  The fuel cell firewall CANNOT be used in any way to 'deck' or fill in the interior area behind the driver.  Re-enforcement of the new fuel cell location is OK, as long as the 'bracing' DOES NOT alter the original frame or support structure of the car.  (Refer to Rule 3.)  This rule will be enforced by track officials, at random, and track official's decision is FINAL.

7.  Batteries may be re-located within the driver's compartment, but MUST have a secure cover that will prevent battery acid from being spilled onto the driver in the event of a roll over or collision, AND be located OUTSIDE of the fuel cell firewall, if used.

8.  Fuel injection, carburetor or turbo chargers are allowed, but MUST be OEM for the make and model of your car.  (This WILL BE CHECKED on a random basis.)  Any electronic fuel pumps, that are OEM equipment, MUST have a 'flip over/upside down' or automatic shut off switch installed.

9.  Manual or automatic transmission is OK, but MUST remain OEM.

10.  Tow hooks or chains are MANDATORY on front AND rear and MUST be easily accessible to recovery/tow vehicles.  (The track will NOT be liable, in anyway, for any damage incurred, due to inappropriate/inadequate hooks/chains on a vehicle.)

11.  Exhaust MUST extend past the rear of the driver's seat.  The ONLY exhaust component that may be removed is the catalytic converter.  No headers or after-market parts will be allowed.

12.  All cars are required to use a single or double digit number ONLY.  No letters or fractions will be allowed.  All numbers MUST be at least 24" tall and of a contrasting color to the body.  (Failure to do so could result in your car being scored incorrectly.)  The first driver to register a number will be the ONLY car allowed to use that number for the ENTIRE 2008 season.  If you wish to run another car number, on a single night, you will be permitted to use an "X" or other single letter designation, for the night ONLY.  (If you wish/choose to run with us after the first night, you must choose another number, which follows the above rule.)

13.  Any driver winning 5 or more "A" features will be subject to have their 'complete' car claimed for $600.  The winner ONLY can be claimed, by another "A" feature driver that finishes on the lead lap.  Multiple claims will be handled by a 'blind' draw from all eligible claiming drivers.  Driver being claimed may retrieve racing harness, seat and fuel cell ONLY.  If you are claimed, you will ONLY have three options: 1) Refuse the sell; 2) sell or 3) swap COMPLETE vehicles (If swapping, it will be AS IS and no money will be exchanged.)  REFUSAL OF A CLAIM WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF MONEY FOR THE NIGHT AND LOSS OF POINTS EARNED FOR THE SEASON.

ALL RULES (OR INTERPRETATION THEREOF) WILL BE DETERMINED BY TRACK OFFICIALS.  ALL TRACK OFFICIALS WILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHECK YOUR CAR AT ANYTIME FOR ANY REASON.  ALL TRACK OFFICIALS' DECISIONS ARE FINAL!!

These rules were copied from our friends at LCS, and are meant to have fun with!
